annual awards
The ColegauCymru / CollegesWales awards recognise outstanding achievement, highlight the breadth of provision in FE institutions and acknowledge collaboration between institutions and other organisations.
In 2012, there are six awards for excellence by institutions:
- Teaching and Learning
- Investing in Staff Development
- Higher Education in Further Education
- Governance
- Promoting Inclusive Learning
- Quality Partnerships
To be eligible for the awards, the activity described in the application forms must: have been operational for at least six months; be an exemplar of innovation and/or good practice and worthy of dissemination to others; be of direct benefit to learners and/or to staff in further education institutions; and contribute to raising quality and standards in education, training and lifelong learning.
In addition, there are two awards for outstanding teaching and learning by individuals:
- Teacher of the Year and
- Learner of the Year.
To be eligible, those nominated must have been teachers/learners at the college within the last year; be exemplar learners/teachers and a role model to others; and have made an outstanding contribution to college outside of the learning environment.

The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony held on 31 May 2012 at Venue Cymru, Llandudno.
